Harley Davidson’s Buell division considered building a new $10 million plant to lower costs by consolidating offices and factory locations. After reconsidering the plans, H-D cancelled the actions wanting to stay focused on its major restructuring plans, including a possible plant closing.
Harley-Davidson is doing a major evaluation of its main production plant in York, Pennsylvania and may consider moving. The evaluation comes, as no surprise, as the company attempts to lower costs within a sales downturn. They believe the factory is not competitive as it stands and a change is in order.
