Winter X Games 13, SnoCross Final
What a race. Almost predictable who would take home the gold, but there was plenty of action and excitement out on the track. Hibbert pulled a decent holeshot and was just a hair past Malinoski. Malinoski was almost in first for just a moment, then he went slightly off track and kept in second. Malinoski ended up falling back into fifth place, but after a few crashes and DJ Eckstrom’s costly mistake, Ebert found himself in second and Malinoski in third. Now the race for second was on. Ebert, a semi-pro, was racing real strong with heavy pressure from Malinoski right on his tail. Lap 14 Malinokski found his opening and never looked back. It was still a close race at that point, but he had plenty of breathing room by the time the final lap rolled around. Nothing like Hibbert’s 22 second lead by lap 11, but respectable. Ebert was more than happy with his third place finish though, his biggest goal coming into X Games was to just qualify for the final. Even with all his pain from the double back flip crash, Levi LaVallee made a valiant effort towards a medal in SnoCross. Working his way from the back half all the way up to forth. He had to be tired but just kept moving.
