Recycle Your Mail

In the Mail

Nationally, more than 35 percent of mail is currently recycled. Whether it’s office paper, catalogs or shipping boxes, it should all be recyclable if properly sorted. Learn more about the different categories of mail and where it can be recycled.

Postage Paid

One great reason to open mail before you recycle it is to reuse any return envelopes. Use labels to replace the “to” and “from” addresses, and that’s one less envelope you have to buy. In some cases, the postage will already be paid for you as well.

Address-ing the Problem

If you have a PO Box, you may be eligible to recycle unwanted mail at your local post office. The “Read, Respond and Recycle” program will be expanding nationally soon, but you can find participating locations using Earth911.com.
